About
Jeff received his master's degree in audiology from Texas Tech University and began his career in clinical practice. Soon, his passion for hearing loss prevention led him to a leadership position in the emerging arena of occupational hearing conservation. Jeff founded Impact Health Services, Inc., a national leader in audiometric & respiratory testing and program management for over 25 years. While at Impact, Jeff invented and patented the award-winning Talk Through Your Ears® technology that became the genesis for CavCom, Inc. Jeff has served as Chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Noise Committee and Chair of the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation. He was named Minnesota Encore Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 by the Small Business Administration, recognized for excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Jeff spent years in the “trenches” developing better radio communication solutions for workers in many noisy manufacturing sectors. His goals were clear signals. He made it comfortable so workers could wear it free of pain to the ear, head, or neck and delivered truly safe loudness levels to prevent hearing loss from: radio signals providing improved passive hearing protection to enable clear communication in very high noise levels.
It’s no surprise that this passion for hearing conservation rolled into developing a full line of electronic and passive protection devices for hunting, trap, and range shooting. The advancement in chip technology in recent years has made electronic protection for shooting safe and dependable. The beauty of our new FieldEarz™ is that speech communication between hunters is possible without shouting, and the ability to hear everything but the gun blast adds a level of safety.
Jeff is known to offer protection while in a blind or at the range. If the gesture is met with a comment like “It’s too late for me; I’ve already lost my hearing,” well, an appropriate sermon on the heartbreak of hearing loss and why it’s never too late is likely.
Jeff and his wife Barbara are avid bird hunters and have had Wirehaired Pointing Griffons and Labs in the family for most of their lives together. “The combo is perfect for upland hunting and waterfowling. However, the onset of early winters in northern Minnesota finds us in the field much more than a duck blind”. Four Sons have followed the hunting tradition, and hearing protection is as common as old hunting boots with the Morrills. The Boys on the West Coast spend more time in duck blinds, and they all gather in Minnesota for Whitetail, always with their FieldEarz™.
